In 1995, Capitol Theatre Management Pty Ltd (a subsidiary of JVM) was awarded a 99 year lease of The Capitol Theatre from landlords Sydney City Council.
This heritage listed theatre seats 2,032 and is one of the largest, most successful and sought after lyric theatres in the country.
Jacobsen has secured a host of diverse national and international attractions over the past 13 years including stage musicals, ballets, opera, classical and popular music concerts.
Disney’s blockbuster production The Lion King was resident at The Capitol from Oct 2003 - Jun 2005, and performed to over 1.4 million patrons.
In December 2007, The Helpmann Award-winning musical, Billy Elliot opened for its Australian premier and performs to this day.
Since opening last year Billy Elliot has performed to 447,639 patrons, making it one of the years’ most successful stage events (patron count as at 31.8.2008).
