CONCERTS AND EVENTS
The Jacobsen Group has an enviable track record when it comes to concerts and events with some of them presented internationally.
Many of the world’s greatest entertainers have been promoted and presented by Jacobsens including Barbra Streisand, Elton John, The Three Tenors, John Denver, The BeeGees, Michael Jackson, Simon & Garfunkel, KISS, Billy Joel, Cyndi Lauper, Pearl Jam, Usher, Ja Rule and Ashanti, and hundreds of others.
Events devised and presented include The Man From Snowy River (arena spectacular); Long Way To The Top( arena spectacular); Aida and Turandot (both outdoor stadium opera spectaculars) , International Expositions for the Australian Government, Walt Disney’s World On Ice and Stars of The Bolshoi Ballet, all of which indicates the Group’s ability to produce diverse forms of entertainment.
THEATRE
The Jacobsen Group has produced many successful theatrical productions since expanding into the world of theatre late in the 1980s.
The Jacobsens were the first producers to present Disney Theatrical’s first Broadway production, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.
SHOUT – The Musical told the story of an Australian rock legend. This multi award winning show was created, produced and promoted by the Jacobsen’s and became a hugely successful sell out tour.
The Jacobsen production of FAME – The Musical played to capacity audiences in Australia, Asia and South Africa.
To demonstrate the versatility of our company some productions (Musicals and Plays) amongst others include Oscar Wilde’s Diversions and Delights, Girls’ Night Out; A Chorus Line, Camelot starring Richard Harris, Lend Me A Tenor (Broadway play) Return of The Forbidden Planet and Cameron Mackintosh’s Witches of Eastwick.
Currently the Jacobsen production of Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage, based on the film written by Eleanor Bergstein, is being presented internationally following a hugely successful season in Australia and New Zealand.
Following the record breaking sales of Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage in Hamburg, Germany where it opened in March 2006 and London which opened at the Aldwych Theatre on the West End in October 2006, the show is now playing in in Toronto and Utrecht. The North American premiere of the show is due to open in Chicago in October 2008. Productions are planned for other European countries under the banner of Stage-Entertainment.
VENUES
Jacobsen Venue Management (JVM) has been at the forefront in development and management of many major Arenas in Australia.
The Sydney Entertainment Centre, Sydney’s Capitol Theatre, the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre and Newcastle Entertainment Centre have all been part of Jacobsen Venue Management.
The company is currently involved as builder/ owner/ operator of the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand. In April 2007 Vector Arena a 13,000 seat state of the art arena opened This will play a significant role in entertainment and sports in New Zealand and will be an important venue forming part of the international touring circuit. JVM is the owner operator of this venue in conjunction with Auckland City Council.
